Meet Attorney Richard “Pete” Magill

Meet Attorney Richard “Pete” Magill

It’s interesting how life informs our career choices. I decided to become an attorney after working in a steel mill for several years and seeing how people were treated in the workplace. I strongly felt that these workers needed representation. No one was standing up for them! I noticed that the employer always had representation, so why not the workers?

So I decided to practice law to help people and win claims for them. And that’s exactly what I do. I have represented my clients at all levels, from the administrative process all the way to the Ohio Supreme Court. I have argued several cases successfully in front of the Supreme Court on behalf of my clients.

After graduating from Girard High School, I started studying law at Ohio State University and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in 1984. I then went on to Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and received my Juris Doctorate in 1987. I was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1987.

In the 25 years since then, I have been admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit and U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio. I am member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Small Practice Division; the Ohio State Bar Association Workers Compensation Committee; a member of the Trumbull County Bar Association, Executive Committee; Member of the Portage County Bar Association and a Member of the Mahoning-Trumbull county Academy of Trial Lawyers.

Born in Youngstown, I am now married with two children and reside in McDonald. I am very involved in my children’s sports and have coached several softball and baseball teams. I love my job and spending time with my family and our dog, Buddy.

By the way, my formal name is Richard but everyone calls me Pete.
